It would eventually be scsi0. But scsi devices are dynamically assigned,
so you can boot from an IDE drive and have scsi0:0:0:0 refer to anything
(a data disk, a scanner, ...).

Use a REAL scsi card :-) At least mid-range Adaptec cards (2940, 29x60)
allow a great degree of flexibility.
