[MPlayer-users] kino audio problem with mencoder files

I'm trying to use mencoder to convert videos in various formats - mpeg-1,
mpeg-2, DivX, etc - into AVI-type-2 digital video files which can be read
by 'kino' and then exported by kino to a camcorder via its IEEE1394
interface (I can't use libdv's dvconnect because I've found that libdv's
'dvavi' completely disrupts any audio/video synchronization).

I produce the AVI-type-2 files with mencoder as follows:

mencoder -vop scale=720:576 -ovc libdv -oac pcm -o test.avi video.mpg

I can quite happily play this output file - test.avi - with both mplayer
and xine.

Unfortunately kino has problems discerning the audio track - it reports
that the audio is "16 bits, 0KHz, 0 samples" and then, not surprisingly,
prints a series of "Impossible Frequency" errors when downloading the
file to the camcorder (the video works fine).

If anyone can offer any help I would be greatly appreciative. This is my
last attempt to use Linux to 'play' videos down to the camcorder; all
other attempts have failed.

I've attached the output of a 'mplayer -identify test.avi' for the
AVI-type-2 file that mencoder produced.

Many thanks,
