Addendum: I will upload the file, if you just tell me!
Hello. Hopefully this could be solved without uploading an example file.
The file is 218MB, and called "Rush - The Story Of Rush (July 1, 2002 -
1 Hour bio) [DivX 4].avi". Bandwidth restrictions make it hard for me to
upload outside my network DMZ.
Anyhow, there's a encoding error that mplayer can't recover from.
Mplayer is capable of continuing without sound, though, after doing
"switching to -ni mode" and a quite long pause. The player XINE exhibits
similar behaviour, but wasn't able to continue playing at all. Oddly,
they both use the same encoder.
The error is at 28 min~, and when seeking up to it (starting to play
before) or starting at a point after it, the same thing happens.
Avifile/aviplay was able to handle it though.
System: Debian unstable on a K7, MPlayer 0.90rc5-3.2.3 from
marillat.free.fr Debian repository.
I've attached the outputs of mplayer and aviplay. I hope this helps.
Please do tell me if it's necessary for me to upload the file to somewhere.
