This is MPlayer G2, which is separate from the branch you're currently
using; it's mostly being rewritten from scratch. It'll be a while
still before it's ready for any widespread usage (the next releases
are based on 0_90 and main trees), but G2 development is coming along
pretty well already.

Anyway, I'm not quite sure what you mean about START and STOP
functions, and it doesn't really sound like something related to
libvo2... What exactly do you want? You're probably best off just
customizing your mplayer for whatever special purpose you want to use
it for...
