Read it again, especially the part about "-passlogfile". I know it's a 
big document, so use the search feature of the viewer. IMHO, the manpage 
is too long for easy browsing and searching. Perhaps most of its 
contents should be moved to the HTML documentation, just leaving a list 
of options.

It couldn't hurt. The only thing that seems to be missing from ffdshow 
is aspect ratio scaling on playback. That could be a limitation of 
DirectShow. You could also use the native Windows (MinGW) build of MPlayer.

I have no patience for proprietary software when there are superior Free 
Software alternatives. If you'll check out the following link, you'll 
see that DivX does have a bug decoding qpel. By the way, this is one of 
the links at the top of encoding-tips.txt. If you need to have movies 
that DivX likes, I guess you have to turn off qpel.
