Tried the mentioned modeline and it works. However the actual output is
37.8MHz, 33.9kHz, 59.7Hz

Don't know if this is the optimum. So I modified it to get exactly 60.0Hz
Modeline "960x540"     37.62  960  992 1000 1100   540 548 560 570
