[MPlayer-users] choosing blitted XV video port?

hello,
i got in contact with someone from nvidia and they are helping solve my 
"tearing" problem when playing a movie to tv out using multiple x screens.  
in order for him to further assist me, i need to run the following test:

>     - startx on just the TV again.  If possible, force your movie
>       player to chose the blitted XV video port instead of the video
> overlay XV port.  Do you see the tearing now?

how do i get mplayer to chose the blitted XV video port?
