No personal experience, but I've heard a little bit...

VCD and low-res divx should be no problem whatsoever. DVD is doubtful,
but it might be tolerable with -framedrop if your DVD's are coded
IBPBPBPBPB or something, since B frames can be totally dropped.
Unfortunately I think this varies from disc to disc. I'm not sure
about normal-res (e.g. 640x272) divx...
