[MPlayer-users] scale+expand

ok.. I'm sure you guys are tired of hearing me whine but heres my
question.

My dxr3 seems to think that it should overscan way too far so I lose a
word here and there from my subtitles, very annoying. So, heres my
solution: use scale and expand to add a border around my video so that
the overscan dosn't eat my video.

Problem:
I can't seem to get any consistent results
this command line works for a descent amount of my 640x480 divx files..
but not all of them..
mplayer -framedrop -vo dxr3 -vop lavc,scale=640:480,expand=736:512:30:25

I get four different results..

1. video works great, scales great, looks great w00t!
2. all of the above + crash on seek
3. crash on start
4. completely hosed video and crash if I seek or let it play for a
little bit

this is the type of crash i get.

MPlayer interrupted by signal 11 in module: decode_video
- MPlayer crashed by bad usage of CPU/FPU/RAM. Recompile MPlayer with
--enable-debug and make a 'gdb' backtrace and disassembly. For details,
see DOCS/bugreports.html section 5.b.
- MPlayer crashed. This shouldn't happen. It can be a bug in the MPlayer
code _or_ in your drivers _or_ in your gcc version. If you think it's
MPlayer's fault, please read DOCS/bugreports.html and follow
instructions there. We can't and won't help unless you provide these
informations when reporting a possible bug.
VO: [dxr3] Uninitializing

I havn't really been able to match any results with anything about the
video's, also even if I get all of this solved, I can't find any uniform
way to add a certain % of a border around all my vids so I don't have to
break out a calculator every time my girlfriend and I want to watch a
new video(yah I know I'm getting picky now)

feel free to tell me to RTFM or STFW or to just plain STFU. Any help
with even the smallest issue would be greatly appreciated. Hell if
somebody could tell me why my dxr3 is overscanning so freaking far I
would be esctatic.

jeremy
