[MPlayer-users] volume control in slave mode

it seems I cannot specify the volume percentage but just an increase or
decrease.  this sux!  can I modify the volume through some external
(command-line) program?

and incidentally, the man page just says "volume <dir>" without any
indication of what <dir> means or of acceptable values.  I've found through
a heuristic process that these are "+" and "-".  this should be added to the
docs.
