[MPlayer-users] Compiling on OpenBSD

I know that _someone_ must use OpenBSD, so..

How would one go about making/getting the "non-native" version of gas
(GNU Assembler) that's needed in the first compile step for OpenBSD?

The documentation states (section 6.2.2):
Due to limitations in different versions of gas (relocation vs MMX),
you will need to compile in two steps: First make sure that the
non-native as is first in your $PATH and do a gmake -k, then make sure
that the native version is used and do gmake.

Any hints or thoughts on other places to look etc would be very much
appreciated. Thanks
