[MPlayer-users] Attitude Anyone?

As an absolute Linux newbie, I looked at Xine and at 
Mplayer. I saw that Mplayer was technically better as I 
could play with it videos which I could not play with Xine. 
I also had the impression that Mplayer handles missing 
pieces more smoethely. But I could never install the GUI. 
(The .rpm did not help me as I did not have rpmbuild.)

So I chose Xine and when I reinstalled my Linux, I did not 
even bother to reinstall Mplayer. But I am still watching 
this list. Maybe one day I can use Mplayer again.

On the other hand, the developers can design their software 
and the installation process as they want to. Should they 
decide to keep the number of people which use their 
software, low, so it is their unquestioned right. There is 
no sense in complaining.

And this applies not only to Mplayer, but to a lesser 
extent, to the whole realm of Linux.
