For information about resizing/scaling use 'man mencoder'.

The 'deinterlace-problem' is not a bug of mencoder but a bug of divx4-codec!

Divx4 has a bug in the SSE-routines of deinterlacing! You certainly have a Intel CPU with SSE extensions (newer Celeron, P4, ...)

I've installed DivX4 and exchanged the encoding library with the OpenDivX-codec (www.xvid.org) ( The commercial DivX - Guys do not
seem to be interested in giving some pleasure to their Linux-friends by making bug-fix-releases parallel to the Windoze-Versions
...).

But I also do have a problem! When I use '-x 768 -y 576' or '-sws 2 -x 768 -y 576' options for scaling, the DivX-file suddenly
becomes huge (the 13 Gbytes on my disk were filled completely and I couldn't figure out yet if it is a bug in mencoder or in
OpendivX ...)
