Yes, you are right - I remember that now but I can't find the reference
either. I upgraded my box and had to do everything from scratch and I'm
figuring I remembered vfm=5 and forgot to tweak the codecs.conf references
as well.

Well, either way it seems to be working. Many means to one end.

the docs *did* use to say that you could set vfm 5 in the config file, but
then recommended commenting out the ffmpeg dvd codec (whatever is's
called) so it will fall back on libmpeg2 instead anyway. i dunno where
that bits gone now.. it was really hadny i thought. unless this default
thing meant it was irrelevant.
