Then you should at least try gcc 3.0.2. Since it is _known_ gcc2.96
messes up the compiled code, especially inlined assembler-code, which is
heavily used in mplayer (and libdvdread, the last time I checked), you
are not helping deubgging your problem if you insist using a compiler,
which causes trouble.

Sven, using gcc3.0.2, having no problems.
