[MPlayer-users] libdvdread2 in Debian

Hello!

Just out of curiosity, I tried to use MPlayer and DVD with the libdvdcss
debs on http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download.htm and the libdvdread2
debs in Debian. ./configure found everything, and I could watch dvd's,
but it was awfully slow (I have a Dual P3 1000mhz). And I really mean
awfully slow. About half speed, maybe.

When I downloaded and compiled my own libdvdcss and libdvdread it worked
just fine. This is not a problem, but I'm just curious, why didn't it
work the first time? Are there any heavy cpu optimizations in
libdvdread?
