Get the correct rpms for your kernel/RedHat version from nvidia (if you
recompiled your kernel you should choose src rpm or tarball). Install it as
the intructions tell. ANd after installing open up your /etc/X11/XF86Config,
or wereever it resides and change in the graphics driver section "nv" to
"nvidia", now the nvidia driver will be autoloaded on X startup, if it's
installed correctly, please read the whole README from the nvidia page.
If you monitor supports DDC you may also remove the modelines for
refreshrates from x config and nvidia driver will autodetect it.
