this is actually exactly what I did ...

But now that there is a xv driver for the Savage4 I am
not going to have to use it anyway.

The speed of mplayer is really impressive, I can get
fluid fullscreen playback of vcd .dat and simple
(ie. clip's resolution not too high) divx on my old
K6/2 266 @ 300 MHz !
