i agree, 3 and 4 sound good to me. imho grouping for now is enough, ie. every 
option has a group number (and than a group info /name,whatever/ can be 
stored too for each group), and than the gui can place it as it wants to. I 
don't know what real advantage an additional preferred widget type info has 
over just the type of the option - if you know any, than that's good too.

And than maybe an additional field for later improvements or something.
