I looked at this briefly. This is a 'stream' and a profile would need
to be added for a 'stream'. This would probably allow 'tv://', etc
into a profile as well. I don't know what the syntax should be.
There is a profile for '[ao.pulse]', '[ao.alsa]', etc. Should it be
'[stream.dvb]' or '[dvb.channel]'. I think the first is far easier to
implement.

I agree. However, this is a bug and the effects are persistent
sometimes for the entire video. I believe that the same thing will
happen when using mplayer to view and ATSC stream.

I don't think VDPAU will show the issue as the nVidia card will do the
decoding afaiu. It could also be that 'dvb' as opposed to 'atsc' has
different error properties. Perhaps the type of atsc error cause the
particular issue within libavcodec. The bug I have in mplayer
bugzilla should persuade anyone who looks at it that there is an
issue.
