that FE_GET_INFO is really funny: the drivers of your card are not 
reporting what frontend type
they support (-S); you should report it to linux-dvb at linuxtv.org after 
having made sure that the
drivers currently in cvs show the same symptom;

that segfault is hard to interpret without a gdb backtrace, but if your 
sat signal is corrupted or not very clean
it may be due to reception errors. Try to use -vc ffmpeg12, that usually 
works better than mpeg12.
