You can learn by doing ;)
MPlayer's translations come in three parts. That is the manpage (GROFF
format), the xml docs (xml docbook) and the help strings (C format).
Gettext is not used, although it's supported if someone has the .mo
files. I've done some work to automate their creation, but it's not
finished yet.

Anyway, if you take the original and don't touch what looks suspicious
(like .something or \sth in GROFF) you'll be probably fine.

DOCS/xml/README*
