Hmm... Could you use base64 encoding as in your first mail? Otherwise
special characters arrive only broken here (at least I assume that's the
reason) :-(

AFAICT just a little prog to test the speed difference between the
blitting method used with -vo gl:slice-height=0 and -vo
gl:slice-height=1.
