I'm not sure, but maybe some banks do charge a (different) fee for foreign
transactions? In that case, it's always handy for potential donators to
have a local account.
I know Fortis doesn't charge any fee, as long as the currency is euro, the
receiving bank is one of the EU countries, including parts that are
overseas like Guadeloupe and the Canary Islands, and the total amount being
transferred doesn't exceed 12,500 euro. Switzerland though, is not a EU
country, so 0.1% is added as a transaction fee, with a minimum of 6,80.
