Sorry to barge in, but how could this feature be possibly useful in any
way? If you play a mkv file with ASS subtitles that somehow is missing
fonts, you can copy them to ~/.fonts/, and everything will just work,
and keep working forever.

On the contrary, this feature would probably encourage the creation of
broken files.
