  I would like to apply my patches if no one objects. Would you
be willing to send a patch for vo gif89a with the remaining changes
to make it fully functional with GIFLIB 5?

  AFAICT you had them figured out in your original patches. If
you have no time or interest to do it that is fine, will look
into it myself in that case.
