I wouldn't throw in the towel. It needs discussion and patience. I'm sure the 
developers are not that stubborn to ignore reasonable arguments. You can find 
issues with warnings in many OpenSource projects. It's a fine line to decide 
which warnings are essential or not. I'm convinced that issues can be solved if 
we keep communicating with each other...

Although, the best code is a warning-free code...
