First id like to thank you for making this list, i think its important to
collect the true facts with references and publish them.

its true we switched, its true i was not happy with the roots and true that it
was to videolan.
But not in that relation.
git was suggested over and over again for years. my oppinion was IIRC neutral
i was neither in favor nor against, i remember objecting to do the switch during
google summer of code to avoid causing avoidable problems to the students.

earliest git request (2005)
http://article.gmane.org/gmane.comp.video.ffmpeg.devel/25804/match=git

the repeated requests over the years for git on mphq are not fullfilled

fast forward to dezember 2010 (i already posted that one, but better quote
of relevant parts below)

    iam ok if

    * There are no objections from root <at> mphq to the move, actually i would have
expected some comments from them but only silence ...

    * people are ok with me admin-ing the git accounts, this will reduce the stress
and flames between me and root <at> mphq

And sorry for the lack of a reply from me earlier but a mix of busyness and
also myself not wanting to anger attila and diego with loud support for the
    move have prevented that ...

also a fun read:
[FFmpeg-devel] to hijack or not to hijack (was: [PATCH] source snapshots back in action since a long time)

    1) Most of the infrastructure FFmpeg uses is owned and is paid by either
Luca, Mans, my brother or me. How can someone hijack something he owns?

Id also like to quote our announcement that we sended to all and that also hit
ffmpeg-dev by someone quoting it later in full (someone should find a reference)
    ...
No change has been done or is planned to any repository leadership
videolan is also still open for all past, present and future ffmpeg developers
    to join on equal terms.

Discussion is still open and we should all try to resolve the conflict.
Please submit constructive suggestions on how to improve the current and
    past conditions.

I think FFmpeg is important to all of us.

And our "we should all try to resolve the conflict"
is awnsered by 6.

and id like to add shutdown more lists than announced, like libav-user.

and to add a few more details, i phoned attila in the morning, and he agreed
to provide subscriber lists, assist in the move in the evening and try to
setup forwarding to the new address.

In the evenning it was subscribers only against promiss not to subscribe anyone.
I refused this, and objected to the shutdown

Incandescent light bulbs waste a lot of energy as heat so the EU forbids them.
Their replacement, compact fluorescent lamps, much more expensive, dont fit in
many old lamps, flicker, contain toxic mercury, produce a fraction of the light
that is claimed and in a unnatural spectrum rendering colors different than
in natural light. Ah and we now need to turn the heaters up more in winter to
compensate the lower wasted heat. Who wins? Not the environment, thats for sure
