Yes.  I should have described the "not work" symptom for playing with 
the GUI.  There is a complaint about not being
able to open D:\.  Since "mplayer dvd://" did work I hunted around in 
the GUI code and found the one place
where "dvd://" is used, but I never got there.

When I press the ">>|" button, I get the "Invalid DVD angle number: 0" 
message.
