my config:
subfont-text-scale=3
ass-font-scale=1
ass-use-margins=1
ass-bottom-margin=70

while we are at it, 
user-agent=WMPlayer/10.0.0.4058
avoids a loop with some mms servers

this should be fixed or discussed, leaving it open is very bad...
i think it might be a regression from rc2.
