Hi,

If you were to keep it locked then it would be unlocked just before the
stretchblit, and just after that you would lock again.

You would get a GPU pipeline bubble if you did this as you would have to
wait until the GPU had finished the blit using the offscreen surface
before taking the lock again.

As it is currently configured the lock is taken with a delay whilst
mplayer decodes video.  If you did this it would probably make things
worse.  I think we have the best solution.

Just working on getting the OSD to work
