I talked with Jon Elwood about this and he told me that the problem
only occurs on Windows builds of mplayer. Until your last post neither
of us had tried it on linux. He has now confirmed that it works fine
on linux (including when using my patch to play HD dvr-ms). Also,
since memcoder works fine on Windows XP, (i.e. converted shows dont
have A-V sync issues) he thinks it might be something to do with the
DirectX headers.

If you have any ideas about where this problem might originate, let me
know and I will try to track it down.
