With my C2D E6600 overclocked at 3Ghz, I can play anything. VC1, x264,
H264 ts and H264 disc sources, all in 1080p. The sweet spot is somewhere
between 2.6 and 3GHz. And I'm not using skiploopfilter.
There are alternatives to CoreAVC too, by the way.
There's Sonic Cinemaster's directshow dlls (SonicVC1vd.ax +
sonicvc1vout.dll for VC1, sonicavcvd.ax for H264 including PAFF) and
there's also Elecard (aka Mainconcept) dlls (eh264ve.ax + eh264vout.dll
+ h264dec_dmo.dll). Afaik they also both do full MBAFF decoding. Both
are also commercial solutions. I've briefly tried to get the sonic dlls
to work by putting them in codecs.conf but they would need more work, if
they can work at all. And there's also Cyberlink PowerDVD but I haven't
looked at that at all.
