Always depends on how cleanly it is implemented ;-). I guess one of the
ugly things about it would be that it would basically only work for MPEG
or raw streams...

Well, MPlayer's filter architecture is quite lacking as well, as
discussed over and over esp. in more recent times.

Already there, although maybe a bit too tightly coupled with libass.
