This seems to currently not be supported on many (any?) distros.

I also looked at the xdg-tools, but this is just a set of shell scripts.
Disabling the screensaver with that would be nasty (two more processes
run in the background to check when the mplayer window closes). Also,
when the screensaver in mplayer gets deactivated, mplayer does not yet
have a window. So the call to xdg-screensaver would need to be moved...
not good!
