I agree. And even if support for having the message constants in another
charset doesn't get removed yet I think that's no reason to make other
code convert things to MSG_CHARSET. The only reason to support non-utf-8
messages internally is that then you can output in that other charset
without supporting charset conversions; if you CAN convert utf-8 to
MSG_CHARSET then there's no reason not to have the internal messages in
utf-8 too.
