about documentation stuff... A nice-to-have thing would be if someone
could replace this message:
#define MSGTR_DumpstreamFdUnavailable "Cannot dump this stream - no file
descriptor available.\n"

with something less confusing, because you also get this when opening an
rtsp stream fails (maybe http and so on as well, not sure though).
I'd do it myself except that I do not know what exactly can cause this
message.
