I don't remember Michael expressing a clear opinion in either direction.
You, Reimar and Roberto basically said you thought the cost of support
was low, saying little about any positive value of support.

I don't think I've been flaming except in some mails with Rich, the
recent ones of which haven't been directly about dropping gcc-2.95
support anyway.

The recent mails with Rich have not been about gcc-2.95 support, mostly
about C features.

The main question I want an answer to regarding 2.95 is when do you
intend to drop support for 2.95 then? Do you see C99 features as
worthless, so that they'll never be used in MPlayer even when nobody is
using 2.95 any more? Your argument by "low cost of support" doesn't
refer at all to the current situation being any different from that.
