I don't think it's a bad idea at all. Do you have "unlimited
bandwidth" and lotsa diskspace ? Depending on what you have to offer,
you could mirror the Website, the release and CVS snapshot tarballs,
the codec packs, the backup of the CVS/SVN tree, the movie samples of
ftp incoming/ (in decreasing level of importance)
