  The GUI is rather problematic in all ways :)

  Anyway, we have been thinking on providing a GTK2 only GUI.
Why? It's working well under Windows, which users are part of
our users(not all of them) that are desperately in the need of
a GUI. 

  But for the moment there are way too many problems for this
to happen really soon.
  Part of the problem is that the current GUI is mainly an
X11 GUI which happens to use GTK in some places.

  But this is only the tip of the iceberg...
