What if you had a 1280x720 widescreen LCD monitor?  You want the resolution as
large as possible but under 1280x720.  I've seen videos with apsects both less
than and greater than 16/9.

I do agree that all those dsize parameters were very complex.  Why would you
want something other than 0 = preserve aspect, 1 = don't preserve aspet?
