As  i  said  i would  like  to  have  uniform  behavior of  xvid  accros
platforms/softwares, so  it would be good  to have the  same defaults as
the vfw frontend and the transcode frontend.

*But* one exception.  I think the packed bitstream  option isn't so nice
at  the moment  as current  release of  lavc (fixed  in cvs  iirc) plays
packed bitstreams not very well.

I have  also a  question to muxer  coders here,  how does the  avi muxer
handle the case where the video export module doesn't return data ? This
happens  when using  bframes, the  codec has  to buffer  frames  until a
pframe  is actualy  coded, so  i wonder  if the  current muxer  is smart
enough to  delay muxing  of audio until  corresponding video  frames are
returned  by  the codec.  In  transcode,  the  muxer layer  is  directly
informed thanks to  a mutex that prevents audio  muxing until we release
it. How is this managed in mencoder ?
