MPlayer asks the X server for supported modes and
uses the one which fits the resolution of the movie the best.
If some of those modes dont work, tell the X server about it.

Emacs ist für mich kein Editor. Für mich ist das genau das gleiche, als wenn
ich nach einem Fahrrad (für die Sonntagbrötchen) frage und einen pangalaktischen
