NO!
it's pure file playback not mounted dvd one.

no
mplayer -dvd 1 -dvd-device /mnt/dvd

actually dvdcss/mpdvdkit checks if the given 'device' is device, image
file or directory.

yes. maybe (S)VCD not only VCD. many ppl asked already 'how to play SVCD?'
