Joy Ping, here's an other version of this patch without doing
modifications to mplayer.c and MAX_OUTBRUST

could you test it? i'm currently out of alsa support (using emu10k1)

I will commit one of the patches.

Here is the new patch, did few improvements and mplayer.c is left
intact. I hope it works for other people too.
