forget this.
this (variable stream parameters) don't have to work yet. it will after
implementing filter layer described ~ 1 week ago by me

the strange symptoms are probably caused by overwritten malloc() area,
this explains why does it sig11 in fastmemcpy and doesn't exits cleanly.
(think of codecs.conf parser bug fixed by ivan - bad memory acecss caused it
to hang)
