Yes, -vo mga requires that the mga is in a graphics mode,
either X or matroxfb, or svga (but who'd use that ? ;-)
At the moment, there is no switching to graphics mode if the card isnt

Sorry, that was my whicked mind...
i meant that it's afaik impossible to get the resolution
from the mga directly (ie accessing the card registers)
