iam not the author of the vesa or xv stuff but iam the author of the 
sw-scaler which is used in the vesa vo

i noticed one thing while quickly reading through the license
"  There are some specific modifications to the source code which go against
   the spirit of the project. They are NOT considered a derivative work, and
   distribution of executables containing them is strictly forbidden. Such
   modifications include, but are not limited to:
   - enabling games that are disabled"
so there are games which are disabled? and which cannot be emulated because u 
dont want them to be emulated ... i dont like that
