I thought that stability is main criterion of non zero Major version number.
All bugreports about crashing of mplayer are, in general, from gcc-2.96 users.
ToDo list and stability are difference things. If project works it should be realsed
as stable to be usable by other peoples (not only by developers and testers)
IMHO in mplayer now are fixed very serious bugs and its version should be incremented
at least up to 0.50.
0.18 would be appropriately 3 weeks ago, but not now.

I'm not specialist in internal structure of DVD media but windoze DVD player
says that my DVD disk is copyrighted and can be played only in CDROM mode
(not in file mode). So I can't select individual .vob file and play it separatedly
(only DVD disk entire).
But as I see mplayer can play only in file mode and lacks "cdrom mode".
(It's likewise -vcd key)

For me are enough of old audio drivers ;)

For S3Virge - may be! But hope on software emulation of this feature.

As for me - solving a-v resync problem doing mplayer as perfect software.

IMHO libvo2 it's for mplayer-2.0 ;)

If those will be usable on my hardware

IMHO printed above list for 1.5 - 2.0.
