In the unlikely event that anyone is interested:

Correction - the revision in the original subject line was the current
revision of libavcodec. The problem seems to have been introduced with
r27940 of MPlayer:

r27940 | bircoph | 2008-11-16 08:04:16 -0500 (Sun, 16 Nov 2008) | 4 lines

Add yasm support to the build system.
This allows to use yasm assembler optimizations from FFmpeg code,
in particular, from libavcodec/fft.c.

Make fails with the following error:
gcc -DLIBTWOLAME_STATIC -DHAVE_AV_CONFIG_H -D_FILE_OFFSET_BITS=64 -

 Stop.

make: *** [libavcodec/libavcodec.a] Error 2

I have yasm:
$ yasm --version
yasm 0.7.2.2153
Compiled on Mar 21 2009.

It is detected by the configure script.

I have not tried the current sv, but nobody has responded and told me that
the problem has been fixed, so ...

 System Configuration:

Intel Core2 Duo, Vista Home Premium (64-bit), gcc-3.4.5.

It's been over a year since I last compiled MPlayer on Windows, so I have
no idea when the problem started.

 Regards,
 John.
